Seven on the spin: Siegert dominates Race 1
The Moto4 Northern Cup landed in Germany for Round 5 of the season, with home heroes looking to leave their mark. Robin Siegert (Kiefer Racing) carried his momentum into the Sachsenring, storming to victory in Race 1. The #11’s win streak continued on Saturday, winning his seventh race of 2026 and securing a 6.183s margin over Thias Wenzel (Team NSA), who stood on the rostrum once more. Anina Urlass (MASS SPORTS Racing by JRP Motosport) rounded out the top three, claiming third after qualifying on the second row.
Adam Vyskocil (AV79 Racing Team) stole the advantage at lights out, leading the field through the opening sector. The #11 quickly responded, launching an attack on Lap 1 as he looked to create a gap throughout the early stages. Wenzel also joined the podium picture following a solid front-row start. Smilla Göttlich (Team Freudenberg – PALIGO Racing) and Jaylen Korporaal (Jaylen Korporaal Racing) crashed on Lap 3, bringing an early end to their hopes.
Danny Hinkelmann (Hinkelmann DH 14 Racing) was the next rider to go down, crashing at Turn 4. Meanwhile, the podium scrap began to spice up, with Vyskocil, Wenzel and Urlass trading blows for second position. Roman Durdis (FS12 Racing Team) headed the third group of riders, with some important points remaining up for grabs. The technical Sachsenring also caused issues for Zenno Bulte (Zenno58), Anton Rishede Eilersen (ARE Racing), Casper Pennings (MASS SPORTS Racing by JRP Motosport) and William Krzelj (KZR Racing Team) – all crashing out.
The closing stages delivered drama by the bucketful, with Siegert escaping the drama after the Championship leader extended his advantage to over five seconds. Meanwhile, the fight for second remained one to watch as Vyskocil, Urlass and Wenzel battled for the final place on the rostrum. Tension remained sky-high on the final lap, with Wenzel snatching second following a breathtaking photo finish for the podium places.
Siegert took victory by 6.183s in Race 1, finishing ahead of Wenzel and Urlass, who rounded off the podium places. Vyskocil finished as the best of the rest, unable to clinch a top three finish on Saturday as Swan Emprin (SWAN96) completed the top five. Durdis took sixth ahead of Tamas Lukacs (HRLF Promotion), who clinched seventh. The #5 defeated Miro Masson (Junior Black Knights), Jason Rudolph (RacingTeam Rudolph) and Viktor Cech (ZC Racing s.r.o), who completed the top 10 spots and set up an all-action Sunday showdown.
Siegert experiences Round 5 perfection
Robin Siegert charged to glory in Race 2, winning his eighth consecutive race of the 2026 season and setting up a match point for the next round. Siegert defeated Anina Urlass, who kept the #11 honest at the flag – finishing 3.401s adrift at the line. Thias Wenzel also returned to the rostrum, finishing one place lower in third following a rock-solid performance. It was an all-German podium at the Sachsenring once more, giving the home fans something to cheer about.
Adam Vyskocil was the fastest rider at lights out, grabbing the advantage at Turn 1 and putting some immediate pressure on the Championship leader. It didn’t take Siegert long to strike, returning the favour and stealing the advantage on the opening lap. The pace was turned up a notch, with Urlass passing the #79 and setting her sights on P1. Further back, Smilla Göttlich and Anton Rishede Eilersen began to serve their long lap penalties following separate incidents on Saturday.
Swan Emprin also tried to join the podium conversation, putting on a show as Siegert clocked the fastest lap of Race 2 – setting the pace. The gap was stretched to over three seconds at the front, whilst Danny Hinkelmann joined the frantic podium scrap. Further back, Miro Masson was involved in a tense duel for the final spots inside the top 10 with just eight to go in Germany.
Vyskocil remained in the fight during the closing laps, leading a battle which was now for P3 after Urlass stormed into the distance. However, everything would change with one lap remaining, with Vyskocil crashing out – becoming the only rider to suffer a Sunday DNF. Back at the front, Siegert crossed the line, making it two from two at the Sachsenring on a pivotal day in the title fight.
Siegert held a 3.401s advantage at the chequered flag, completing another dominant weekend and extending his title lead to 68 points over Urlass, who sits P2 in the standings after finishing as runner-up in Race 2. Wenzel earned third, crossing the line ahead of Emprin and Hinkelmann following an epic final lap battle. Tamas Lukacs was sixth, with Casper Pennings and Roman Durdis finishing behind in seventh and eighth. Louis Wolff and Viktor Cech rounded out the top 10 runners as attention turns to Round 6.
